The Scope welcomes Democratic Candidate for Comptroller for the State of Illinois, Raja Krishnamoorthi.
Raja is the Former Deputy Illinois State Treasurer. Prior to his appointment as Deputy Treasurer, Raja served on the board of the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA), becoming chair of its Audit Committee. During his service, IHDA helped provide thousands of low- and moderate-income families across Illinois with affordable housing. Later, Raja was appointed as a Special Assistant Attorney General to help start the public corruption unit in the Illinois Attorney General’s Office.
Raja is a longtime friend of Barack Obama, and worked on his successful 2004 campaign for the U.S. Senate, serving first as the issues director for his primary campaign and then as a senior adviser in his general election campaign. Raja also advised Obama during his Presidential campaign and worked on his 2000 campaign for the U.S. House of Representatives.
